Youth Advocacy Program
This program offers free advocacy to the youth of Lewis County. The goal of the Youth Advocacy Program are to assist the youth to better understand their concerns, accept responsibility, and cope more effectively with the demands they face. Students may seek the Youth Advocacy Program voluntarily or may be
referred by teachers, parents, guidance counselors, or other school staff.
The Youth Advocacy Program originated in 1982 as a response to the increasing number of troubled youth in the surrounding communities throughout Lewis County. The program offers free advocacy to the youth of Lewis County through the school system. Students of participating schools may seek Youth Advocate service voluntarily or may be referred by parents, teachers, guidance counselors, or other school staff.
The goal of the program are to assist youth to better understand their concerns, accept responsibility, and cope more effectively with the demands they face. This is provided through confidential, informed, supportive and preventive advocacy by the Youth Advocate on an individual or small group basis.
