Red Ribbon Week is a chance for communities and individuals to stand up for our youth through a commitment to drug prevention and education and a personal commitment to live drug free lives. Mountain View Prevention Services recently teamed up with local area schools to help educate youth on the importance of living drug free lives. Throughout the week of October 25th-29th several classrooms participated in drug prevention/awareness activities.

Some Red Ribbon Week activities encourage communities to plant gardens of hope. Mountain View sponsored one of these gardens by planting 250 tulip bulbs on the grounds of Lowville Academy and Central School, with the idea that the red tulips planted now, will be in bloom around prom and graduation time, reminding students about the importance of making positive, smart choices in all of their activities. MVPS' Executive Director, Arlene Hall received help planting bulbs from members of the Lowville Village Tree Planting Committee. Planters included MaryBeth Anderson, Martie McDowell, Sue Maring and Arlene Hall.
