Welcome!

Over twenty years ago a group of caring citizens came together to form the Lewis County Council on Alcohol and Substance Abuse.  That group has evolved into Mountain View Prevention Services, Inc., a non-profit, private agency dedicated to providing prevention education to the community about alcohol and substance abuse. Our vision is one where all Lewis County residents practice a healthy lifestyle.

Understanding prevention is key. We consistently aspire to offer services to the public combining a variety of strategies which include awareness of the dangers of substance abuse and making alternative, positive choices.

   

The Reality Check Program, a Bureau of Tobacco Control Program of the NYS Department of Health , is a grant maintained by Mountain view Prevention Services. They recently celebrated a successful year of many activities. On May 11, 2013 the program hosted an acknowledgement dinner where RC youth enjoyed an evening with their parents describing the initiatives of the RC Program and the various activities that they were a part of. We extend our thanks to Assemblyman Ken Blankenbush who provided certificates to all the RC members. Congratulations to all RC youth and to Emily Ramos, RC Program Coordinator, and Carlie Watson, Program Assistant.

Local Health Survey

Local health departments, hospitals and community based organizations are working together to complete a Community Health Assessment to inform a Community Health Improvement Plan for 2014-2017. 

We are conducting a survey about the health needs of North Country residents in Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence Counties. Your answers are important to us. Your participation is voluntary and your responses will remain anonymous.
